PO-02-171 CLINICAL, HEALTHCARE UTILIZATION AND ECONOMIC IMPACT OF SAME DAY DISCHARGE FOLLOWING ATRIAL FIBRILLATION ABLATION

چکیده
Emerging research has suggested that same day discharge after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation can be safe in appropriately selected patients. As such, AF is becoming increasingly common. We sought to determine the clinical and economic impact of (SDD) vs. non-same (NSDD) following ablation. Patients ≥18 years age undergoing at Intermountain Health from January 1, 2018 July 22, 2022 (n = 2935) were identified. These patients stratified propensity-matched by length stay ≥12 hours (NSDD, n 1118) <12 (SDD, n= 1118). Primary outcome measures included: death, hospitalization, heart failure (HF) hospitalization stroke. healthcare utilization visit costs, outpatient, emergency department (ED), inpatient visits costs 3, 6 12-mo post Baseline characteristics prior propensity-matching showed SDD group younger male with a lower incidence hypertension, failure, COPD. Following baseline similar between groups. There was decrease HF hospitalizations vs NSDD groups [HR 0.67 (0.50, 0.90), p=0.007]. No difference or stroke Healthcare shown Table. The total cost index compared NSDD. Furthermore, number ED overall these not different data demonstrate associated negative outcomes. reduces without concomitant increases subsequent out 1-year

Atrial Tachycardias Following Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
One of the most important proarrhythmic complications after left atrial (LA) ablation is regular atrial tachycardia (AT) or flutter. Those tachycardias that occur after atrial fibrillation (AF) ablation can cause even more severe symptoms than those from the original arrhythmia prior to the index ablation procedure since they are often incessant and associated with rapid ventricular response. D...
متن کاملClinical, economic, and quality of life impact of atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common, age-related arrhythmia that disproportionately affects men, adversely affects quality of life, and causes considerable morbidity and mortality. OBJECTIVES To describe trends in the prevalence and incidence of AF in the United States; discuss the etiologies and complications of AF; characterize the economic burden of AF; and predict an individua...

متن کاملLeft Atrial Diastolic Dysfunction following Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation.
Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA)-induced thermal injury may cause and/or worsen left atrial (LA) diastolic dysfunction leading to pulmonary hypertension and heart failure in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), the incidence of which is probably more common than is generally realized. Biplane 2-dimensional echocardiography coupled with tissue Doppler (velocity) imaging and Doppler-der...
متن کاملThe Impact of Cryoballoon Versus Radiofrequency Ablation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation on Healthcare Utilization and Costs: An Economic Analysis From the FIRE AND ICE Trial
BACKGROUND This study sought to assess payer costs following cryoballoon or radiofrequency current (RFC) catheter ablation of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in the randomized FIRE AND ICE trial. METHODS AND RESULTS A trial period analysis of healthcare costs evaluated the impact of ablation modality (cryoballoon versus RFC) on differences in resource use and associated payer costs. Analyses w...
